A sad day for the VDL Stud wednesdag evening. The condition and health of the legendary stallion went down very fast in the last couple of weeks. Herefore they decided to let him pass away.
Chin Chin had a very impressive jumping career. Together with his former owner and rider, Jaime Azcarraga from Mexico, this combination participated for more than five years at international level. In 1988 Chin Chin won five consecutive times in the North American League on the World Cup circuit and competed in Seoul at the Olympic Games where he placed sixth individually. Four years later, he competed again at the Olympics in Barcelona.
As a 24 years old stallion Chin Chin was imported through the VDL Stud from Mexico to Holland. In the 5 years that he has been active for the Dutch breeding he has had a big influence in breeding. His sons Zelote VDL and Zapatero VDL were aproved for the KWPN studbook. And every year at the mareshows his daughters were very succesfull. In 2006 his daughter Welena VDL became Dutch Free Jumping Champion and Well Born Rilexy placed 2nd in this Championship. This year again many mares were selected for the National mareshow. And of course he already bred some international show jumpers like Ta Belle van Sombeke, Qerly Chin, Triomphe de Muze, Tolano van 't Riethof, Phin Phin and Riot Gun van de Padenborre.
Chin Chin became 29 years old.
