Two weeks of international level competitions at L’International Bromont presented by CN ended today with the eagerly awaited $125,000 CN Grand Prix. The 22 American and Canadian riders who participated in this event faced a
course that featured 16 jumping efforts with obstacles set at a height of 1.6m and a 2m wide water jump, to be ridden in a time set at 81 seconds. Favourites such as Mario Deslauriers, Jay Hayes, Frankie Chesler, Ainsley Vince, Leslie Burr Howard, Laurie Bucci, and Kimberley Farlinger, to name but a few, answered the call, but it was difficult to guess at who would win. A few combinations, such as the doubles before and after the water jump, proved particularly difficult.
Course designer Pierre Jolicoeur favoured speed to technical difficulty for the suspense-filled jump-off. First to go, Keean White rode clear and stopped the clock at 41’46. Alberta rider Jennifer Serek, 3rd rider to go set the time to beat at 38’62! Beth Underhill and Magdaline were menacing but finished in 40’47. Fans again went wild as Mario Deslauriers and Paradigm, last rider to participate in the jump-off, entered the ring. Seemingly effortlessly, he jumped to victory with an incredible time of 38’19! of this 32e edition of L’International Bromont presented by CN.
