On Thursday, 42 riders started in the Prix de la Fédération Equestre de Monaco, Tabel A 1.45m against the clock, with a global dotation of 20.000€. 15 of them stayed clear, but finally it was Malin Baryard from Sweden who did the job in 58.14seconds. Her mare H&M Espri (SWE, Guinness) went half a second faster than the grey mare Arielle (HANN, Acord II) and William Whitaker ranked second. The Belgian Gregory Wathelet, starting under the flag of Ukraine, was ranked on the third place. His 7-year-old Belgian Stallion Pikap (ex A PICKACHU DE MUZE, BWP, Kannan), did a great job in the arena of The ‘Monaco Harbour’.
On Friday, the Prix KBL Monaco, a 1.45m table A with jump-off competition turned out to be thrilling performance for the spectators. 9 of the 35 starters managed to ride a first clear round, 5 of them did it twice. At the prize-giving, 3 riders of the top 5 were already well-known by the crowd. They were placed at the top 5 the day before, at the CSI * 1.45m competition. Winner at Friday night was the Belgian Gregory Wathelet, who’s riding for the Ukraine. The day before he became 3rd, but more remarkable is the fact that he’s doing this great job with a just 7 years old horse, the Belgian bred grey stallion Pikap (ex A PICKACHU DE MUZE, BWP, Kannan). This lovely, small horse is already a big jumper! The second place of the Prix KBL Monaco was for the Swedish Malin Baryard and her mare H&M Espri (SWB, Guinness), the winning team of the Prix de la Féderation Equestre de Monaco on Thursday night.
On Saturday, the Prix Just World International-Mc Cullough Foundation (prize money: 25.000€), 1.50m table A competition with one jump-off, was called the Small Grand Prix, but a lot of ‘big’ riders started some of theirs best horses. Only 7 of the 32 riders stayed clear in the first round. Michael Whitaker (GBR) and his mare Insul Tech Quidame des Hayettes Z (Zang, Quidam de Revel) went faster than the French rider Michel Robert on Koro d’Or (SF, Elf d’Or) and Christina Liebherr (SUI) with L.B. Tamina (SBS, Lux Z).The winner of the Prix KBL Monaco, Gregory Wathelet (UKR) and his very young grey stallion Pikap (ex A PICKACHU DE MUZE, BWP, Kannan) made one mistake in the jump-off and became 5th.
